There was a lot to think about in solitude during the height of the lockdown. Descriptions of abandoned tourist sights, and airports clogged up my news feeds, but from behind the walls of my boyfriend’s parent’s house, I felt I could hear the chaos. Amongst the conspiracy theories, anti- maskers, federal mandates, panic buyers, and the abundance of statistics reporting cases and deaths - I had to remind myself that this virus was taking people’s loved ones away. The tragedy of that knowledge was heavy, but it kept me from being swept away. It brought my mind to this scene, alone in a dark room for a moment of peace.
